May 2002 - In the month of May my dad had sold his house and we had both decided to move back to our homeland in upstate New York. Im leaving a lot of friends i'd had for a long time and recent new ones i'd met while getting into the Hot Rod and racing community. Will miss you all.

June 2002 - Pops rented the biggest U-Haul he could find and we stuffed with all our schtuff. We both bought car trialers, so he could tow his 2002 Chevy Silverado and me so i could tow the race car across the United States. We left Azusa, Calif at noon on a Thursday and arrived in Greene, New York the following Tuesday around 2pm. The drive was pretty much uneventful. My truck got great gas mileage, about 14 or 15 mpg with the back loaded and the race car full of stuff also. Anyways, we stayed with my Aunt until September when we finally found a house to buy and went through all the escrow stuff.
Also found out closest track is 90 miles due North on the other side of Syracuse. Ack! Oh well........ loaded everything up and headed out. Got to the track over an hour early, they dont open til like 830am, i of course am used to Pomona or Railto opening at 6 or 7am.... so i got a nap. Got inside the track after paying admission of 20$ and a parking fee of 12$, ... wtf is THAT all about? ....sheesh, ok, get unloaded, made 5 passes during the day with a best R/T of .503, best run was a 12.90 @ 87mph.

July 2002 - In July i called Moser Engineering and Strange, Strange would not supply a 12-bolt rearend with the brackets attached for my 3rd gen Camaro, but Moser can supply a complete 9" with the necessary brackets welded to the rear. So, ... i ordered a complete Moser 9" rearend with 4.56 gears, 35-spline axles, Daytona style yoke [?] and drum brakes. Final cost i think was around 2,800$ bucks. My new UPS guy already knows me well now, poor guy, the rearend came to me in about 6 different boxes. Took me an hour to piant it and a couple hours to put it together.

August 2002 - I'd picked up 2 Weld Racing aluminum rims and 2 slicks. Found another track due East about 120 miles. Well, i made 2 passes and left. If i havent explained before, i'll remind you here, .... im using a HUGE hydraulic cam, powerband is 3500 - 6800, but because it is hydraulic, i was told by Blairs Speed Shop in Azusa that i cant go with a spring stronger than 300# lbs., so at 6100 rpms it sounds like im hitting my rev limiter, which it isnt, its my springs floating or something of that nature. ..... so..... with the 4.56 gears, the Camaro was shifting into OD [overdrive] before the lights, now im thinking if i switch to a roller cam and stronger springs, i should beable to spin the motor up to 6800 and stillbe in 3rd gear when i go through the lights. My best run of the 2 was a 12.80 @ 90mph i believe, i dont have the slips handy, but my 60' times sucked considering i was using slicks. Im considering it is a possability the rims were spinning in the rire, so i will get wheel screws also.

October 2002 thru April 2003 - Camaro has been trailer and in the garage [actually its a Carriage Barn circa 1900]. Didnt do a whole lot for my first winter back here. installed some more lights in the 'garage'... but never touched the race car. Things i hope to be doing later this year include relocating the battery to the rear, ficing possible blown power valve, replacing timing chain cover to fix front of motor oil leak, purchasing roller cam, stronger springs, and roller lifters.... purchasing my own motor stand and cherry picker, ....
