Approaching Engine Swap

July/August - Well, havent gotten a whole lot done, been so busy with Bobs motor and car. We tried puting his rims and tires on my Camaro just to see how things would look and fit. His tires rub a little bit on the front inside wheel well but could prolly be "modified" with a 5 lb. sledge. We also discovered i have metric lugs, ...nutz. we wanted to mount all 4 and drive down for a burger, but that didnt happen. I picked up some smoothie aluminum valve covers at Service Center for 90$, but they will also have to be modified. Will have to take out the baffles so they will fit around the Crane Roller Rockers, ....damn center-bolt heads, its been impossible to find tall valve covers for center-bolt heads under 200$.
I also took the intake up to Auto Marine in Glendora for the steel braided line [62$] that will flow coolant from one head to another at the rear of the intake. Looks good, great job Jeff.

September - I have spent the last 6-8 months looking for TALL center-bolt vavle covers. I have found only 3 sets. The first ones i found were at the Super Chevy Show, they were carbon fiber and they cost over $200, cant remember exact price, but i remember wanting something around the 100 to 150$ range. The second set i found was a pair made by Moroso, ....for over 300$ [!!]. There is an adapter you can get for about 110$ that will allow you to bolt on any regular valve covers, but by the time you get another 100$ pair of regulars, your up over 200$ again. I'd given up and bought a pair of shorties and was told i could use a "thicker" gasket. WRONG. The baffles in the covers i'd bought would have had to be removed and i'd thought, "There's got to be a better way...". While cruising around on the interent i'd come across a website of a company that makes TALL aluminum, ball-milled [wanted smoothies, but oh well.] center-bolt valve covers WITH removeable baffles.....for 99$ [!!]. As i update this page they are in the mail. [will have pics soon!] Their website is THE RODWORX .

Pics below are of XRP's steel braided carbuerator fuel line #6 AN outlet and glycerine filled fuel pressure guage, Summits Hi-Torque Mini-Starter - 4:1 ratio - 1.9 hp - weighs about 10 lbs - 222 ft. lbs. torque - 80-90 amp draw [the starter had to be turned upside down to clear my Hooker Super Comp Headers], MSD Pro-Billet Electronic standard distributor - race rotor - alkyed cap, ARP header, water pump and flex plate bolts.

Addition of Hooker Super Comp Headers - 1 3/4 to 3" collector and TALL aluminim ball-milled center-bolt valve covers.

October 11th - Over the last couple weeks we did it. We tore out the V6 and all the SMOG schtuff. I'd got Moroso solid motor mounts from Jegs, to install them [would have had to change location of stock motor mounts anyway] we had to drop the lower A arms which was the easy part, intalled the motor mounts, and tackled putting the A arms back together. Sheesh, what a pain. Then installed the motor/trans all in one shot, that went ok, the drivers side header went in smooth enuf, but the passenger side was was....how should i say....difficult. After 2 weekends and coutless trips to local parts stores, its in and running!
I just got back from the muffler shop, i thought i'd play it safe and got 2 Flowmaster Delta 50 series. WAY louder than i anticipated. My days are numbered before i get busted. Anyways, ....next week im pickin up taller tires since i have about 2" clearence.

October 21st - Last race of the year for Rialto Drags.
